they could have at least called it metaverse that would have been slightly better because
that's what they ultimately are going to name their whole thing right or i think they already
are naming it that yeah so i think meta i actually don't know why they called it meta
but i think they are pivoting their entire company to go from normal social apps like facebook and
instagram to this ar vr nft fuel fuck fest that they want to create so or or maybe they're just

announced the name exactly it was crazy i've also seen like the the meta logo being turned
into like testicles and shit it's so hilarious man dude that's funny but uh it's crazy man did
you watch that video that they posted connect 2021 dude so when i had last seen zuckerberg
like you know in that congress hearing or something at that time i was like this is like
the most robotic looking guy ever uh you know people like a famous person can't be more robotic
looking and then i saw that metaverse announcement and he was looking even more robotic in this that
that is scarily robotic yeah i think we were talking offline and you mentioned that his uh
his avatar or whatever they call it in the metaverse looks more human than than his actual
real self i think metaverse like the whole thing makes sense for someone like zuckerberg you know
who in in real social life is such a you know robot that he has to actually have like a facade
in front of him
that is actually digital that is less robotic than he is like by default yeah and it's really
funny because he sits in the metaverse to talk to real people about real products which i thought
was really ironic but anyway dude it's so stupid man this metaverse do you even understand this
metaverse because i don't i'll be honest with you i mean i know kind of what they're trying to do but
i don't have a full understanding of what these people actually you know have in mind
so i guess ultimately their goal is obviously take as much data as they can right as we were
speaking few minutes ago like basically if if they could have direct connection to the brain
and like get even thoughts of what people like what people are thinking i think that's their
ultimate goal but this seems to be like that one one step before you know reaching that ultimate
goal where so basically they they want you to have like the entire life uh of yours in the metaverse
kind of like that uh player one i think that movie right uh
ready player one loading player one ready yeah ready player one right that's what so i think
essentially it's yeah there's only except like a significantly worse version of that as in
like beta beta alpha version of that dude it's so bad it's so bad i was looking up uh what the
metaverse is and there is a new york times article where the writer's eight-year-old son is trying to
explain to him what the metaverse is and there was a quote there that i really liked i think it
went something like on a good or like one moment you're having a time-lapse and you're having a
time-lapse and you're having a time-lapse and you're having a time-lapse and you're having a
time-lapse and the other day you're getting scammed by a scammer or something like that so
it is when i read that i thought this is like 4chan or 8chan or one of those you know dark web
websites but now it it is like a actual thing where you can walk around it it's got a shiny
yeah it's got a shiny coat of paint now there so that it will look all you know uh nice and
harmless but in reality it will become even worse it's going to be horrible i i can only imagine how
facebook's gonna regulate this because even you know as a person who's been on the internet for
as it is the the set of portfolio that they have right now they're really doing a terrible job of
moderating it in the right way you know so here is going to be even worse because they are expecting
people to have like their entire lives here you know they're like saying play games with your
friends and play table tennis i'm like that's the worst way to do it at least with the current
technology dude it's so bad there was uh do you watch this guy tim dylan i'm a huge fan of tim
dylan and he on his recent show was talking about facebook uh not being able to stop people from
selling their maids uh online so in philippines what so apparently this is a huge problem in the
philippines where people actually go and try to sell their maids like actual human trafficking
on the website and this continued on facebook for a long time and facebook's uh ml apparently
is not trained in the local language i don't know what that language is but apparently they cannot
detect posts like that so this continued for a long time so for fun tim dylan during his show he
posted to his own account of course he's a comedian so people know that but he posted something like i
have a maid for sale chained in my basement and you can buy her if you want and he was uh
experimenting to see like why if by the end of the show the post gets taken down and it didn't get
taken down so he was like dude that is so messed up man so just imagine this is such a real world
problem and they should be tackleable right like you just figure out what you know is going on and
then you stop these posts or ban these people or whatever report them to law enforcement whatever
it takes especially after you're taking so much data at least then you should have these algorithms
figured out because i mean let's face it right facebook could be the most data hungry company
ever oh it is and if they can't have like their models trained enough even after taking all that
data then what are you doing with that data like why exactly like knowing everything that you know
you should be able to stop people from selling people on your website that's all i'm saying so
yeah which is you know not a you know not a hard goal you know it's just like not not a like really
tall expectation from facebook just you know not sell people that's all yeah so before they talk
about privacy uh you know maybe fix that problem first so it's really hilarious when uh zuckerberg
talks about privacy you know in in the keynotes or whatever like their announcements they are
usually talking about privacy you know and it's so funny because it's so funny because it's so
funny when he utters that word privacy we believe in privacy what are you talking about the moment i
yeah no it is true the moment i read uh or it's one zuckerberg talk about privacy
it's just like dude this is rich coming from you you are literally
like the guy you are the guy that violates everybody's privacy if you could you would
plug straight into our brains right they would hack a like hack our brain read every thought
everything and put it on a server somewhere so this is super rich coming from you and they still
say it so it's extremely extremely rich man that is so crazy and the scarier part like even scarier
part to me is that people will accept it like you know if if he comes up with a shiny enough product
uh that uh maybe you know gets people like more likes or more attention or you know some some
stuff like that some instant gratification like that people will jump onto that platform man it
is crazy how quickly people will accept it and it's so crazy how quickly people will accept it
people just jump onto a new platform just click accept accept accept and start like uploading
stuff there if you know they get enough views and likes and all that it is crazy so that is the
scary part to me about this whole metaverse also like we are joking about it right now that it's
so pointless and you know it just like like how facebook also has been time and again uh accused
that they are like tearing apart the world and like making people far further away so this will
be even worse than that right and yet the scary part is that people will accept it and they will
sign up right away like as soon as zuckerberg gives like a subsidized oculus uh goggle or you
know it's like a free oculus uh thing vr headset or something people will be like jumping on that
train and accepting all the terms and conditions giving up their life for you know that shiny new
instant gratification oh yeah this is going to happen do you know about roblox r-o-b-l-o-x
no what's that okay so even i didn't know about this and when i was researching you know like
trying to understand it i came across this thing so roblox is a game that a lot of the new uh
generation is playing you know the new generation as in the people who are like um you know 12 to 20
years old or teenagers right so people who have a lot of free time and they don't know what what
the hell to do with it and they're also stuck at home mind you with all this quarantine and
everything so roblox is a platform okay which is uh not vr at the moment i don't know if they have

Like they have these games and if you lose, essentially you will die and then eventually somebody wins.
Okay, that's the premise.
So, right, so people started recreating these squid game kind of games inside Roblox.
So essentially they created two teams where, you know, there is whatever like, you know, the tug of war game or like whatever.
So they started creating all these games in Roblox.
And people play this with strangers online all the time.
So the idea is like, you know, traditionally video games, like they have a narrative, like you do something in it, which is kind of pre-programmed and everything.
With Roblox, that is not.
It's regulated and all, right?
As in it's censored, regulated, all of that.
Yeah.
And I'm assuming this is like completely not.
No, no, not, not only is it not regulated or has anybody looked at it, it is fully open.
So you can do whatever you want.
So if you want to create a game where you, you know, like kill each other by throwing them.
Into like a fire pit, you can do that.
So Roblox is doing this and people are hooked with it.
So what I.
And teenagers are playing this.
Oh yeah.
And they're obsessed with it.

So I think what's going to happen is, you know, Facebook will buy a company like Roblox.

So that's how they will enter it.
And then they will add all the crap in it.
So for example, Reality Labs will probably add Oculus support or, you know, I think they're
trying to build some new glasses or something which have whatever, like what is it called?
Augmented reality support.
And they will then start integrating these APIs into their whatever game that they create
or whatever world that they create.
And I think that's like going to be Metaverse 1.0.
So that's my prediction.
Let's see.
And that's just going to be the beginning of all the like thousands and thousands of data points on you that, you know,
people are going to just willingly give up for Metaverse.
Yeah, not just that.
I mean, data point is one thing.
I mean, you know, like, okay, they are already doing it.
They already know a lot about you.
But what is even more concerning is that you are actually going to lose connections to the real world now.
So currently it's already pretty bad, right?
Like people.
People live for Instagram.
They travel for Instagram.

But now they are going to lose human connection, which I think is going to be way worse.
Way worse.
It's going to be disastrous for like humans in general, right?
Because we are social species in the sense where it's not digital connect, but we get that, you know, like all the right chemicals get released when we are actually meeting people face to face.
And that already has been declining due to all these digital platforms and pandemic.
And all.
And now it will have even like people will have even more reason to not actually go physically meet your friend and instead just meet in a common virtual room or some some stuff like that.
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, it's really saddening.
It's very saddening.
You remember, like when we were kids, right?
Like we are 31, 32 years.
I'm almost.
Dude, I was going to just say that when I was just going to say that, like the joys of playing outside or, you know, the joys of like meeting people or doing random non-intelligent stuff when you were kids.

I think that is genuinely something that already I would say kids today are unfortunately not able to experience that as much already.
And it's just going to go on getting worse, man, from here on out.

And I think there is something deep in our human system which requires that, you know, it's not it's not an optional thing.
I do think that being social is an important thing, right?
Like you cannot get the same experience that you get in the real world in the metaverse.
I don't think anybody can.
Anybody can argue that point.

And I think there that the bad part about that is you get some of the feelings that, you know, so when you, for example, connect to a friend using a video call, for example, you do get some of that feeling that, you know, you are actually speaking to your friend and you're getting that feeling.
But there's still something like hollow, you know, you don't feel like complete satisfaction when you're communicating with humans or digital platforms.
You know, it's always significantly better than you.

Like, you know, you're not going to be able to meet the person face to face.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, because that's going to get worse.
It's going to get worse.
And see, the thing is, our interaction is not just speech and video, right?
It is also like a lot of body language.
It is, you know, how comfortable people are around each other.
You know, there is a lot of unspoken communication that happens between people.

So some may even argue that that is actually more than the communicated things, you know, like even something as simple as touch, like shaking hands, for example.

It is so underrated.
But it has been proven time and again that it is so critical.

So all of this stuff is going to be lost.
So when I was watching stuff like, you know, gaming or there is another section in that video, I think, called Fitness.
That was the worst one, in my opinion, where the guy plugs himself into the metaverse and then goes for a run.
Like dude, you can go or something or he plays basketball or something.
I don't remember exactly what but whatever, like he's trying to do fitness in the metaverse.
So instead of that, why don't you go to a real gym?

You know, and one more, and one more consideration to this whole, you know, metaverse thing that
I'll derive this from that Ready Player One movie.

So, so basically in that, what they have shown is that the actual world, like the real physical world, is not the real world.

pull the server, servers or, you know, delete everything from that, it all goes.

Like nothing stays in reality.
Like none of the real issues on the planet are going to go away.
So, if you're spending whatever limited time you have in your life in a virtual world,
trying to fix issues that are not even real issues or whatever, then that's, you're not
really taking humanity ahead, right?
In, in that sense.
So, the real world will go on getting worse and worse and worse.
So, yet your human brain will be satisfied that, okay, no, my meta life is, you know,
metaverse life is good.
I have like a car there, I have this, that, cleanliness, everything.
So, it doesn't matter if my, you know, real world is shit because I'm anyway going to
put that VR goggle and get all those feelings, like, you know, all those chemicals released
in my brain that will give me a false sense of feeling that, yeah, my life is great.
But in reality, your life is like the worst possible and no one will take efforts in the
real world.
Yeah.
It reminds me sort of that movie Inception or The Matrix or things like that where, you
know, like the real world sucks, but then you are living in this fake world where nothing
is real.
Like, in some sense, this is even worse than issues like porn or stuff, right?
Like where you have gratification without, you know, the actual like physical, like interaction
or like any meaning, like it's meaningless.
But this takes me.
At least at the end of it, you come out of it, right?
At least at the end of like watching, you know, some stuff like that.

You at least come out of it.
Whereas here you will be like in it the whole day for the majority of the time.

This makes those problems significantly worse in my opinion.
And there is no stopping it too.
Like you cannot actually stop humans from, you know, creating these crappy things and
people are going to be obsessed with it.
They are going to love it.
They are going to give them, you know, give Facebook their data.
It's coming because tech rules the world, man.
There is no way around it.
So it's just, right?
Like, I don't think you or me or many people are going to be obsessed with it.

I think many people like us, I don't think we are going to be plugged into the metaverse.
Like it's just something that won't interest us.

they never care about care about like computers, for example, or, you know, stuff like that,

So it's, it's something like that, like for us having like, you know, at least one third

properly in the real world because we are also too old.

we are also too much connected to our phones and digital stuff these days but at least not at like
the vrar level we are not connected at least that deep yet so for people like us i think since we
have grown up with all of this we especially will never get i hopefully hooked hooked but but yeah
we will have influences like there will be some point like you know we were speaking about that
i message thing for example like there will be some point where even if say 50 percent of your
friends are on it and you are like you know you have to discuss about some actual physical social
event then people are like yeah just come into the metaverse we'll talk yeah basically and then
at some point you will be like we'll have to do it because everyone is on it and we don't want to be
that guy you know yeah and it's actually disadvantageous to be that guy right because
you then miss out on actual real world interaction but at least here that defeats the purpose of
living then basically if you are just like you know being being the person who is so focused on
privacy that you would rather not have
any human contact just for that which is also silly so there is a balance there pointless but
with the metaverse i feel it is worse because then i think it gives people an out saying you know you
don't have to meet in the real world here at least if you you know like do whatever interaction that
you do on social media or i message at least there is some real world connection to it at some point
you probably want to meet that guy or girl whatever but here you can just say let's meet
in the metaverse and that could be it so i think that is making things a little bit more difficult
and that could be it so i think that is making things way way worse
i hope genuinely that's so bad man yeah it's very bad there is also talk of nfts on this thing did you
read about that uh no no i i think we were talking just before the the podcast right
just just fill me up on that yeah so even i don't know a lot about how facebook plans to integrate
nfts into the metaverse but the way i understand it is that they want to create essentially a
marketplace like facebook marketplace but for nfts so i'm assuming you can go and set up a
picture of a rock or the mona lisa or whatever on this yeah the mona lisa example was awesome
actually so so right so i think their goal is and that is exactly what they are trying to do
you would go so what pb was saying so what pb was saying like few minutes ago when we were talking
offline is like you you meet a friend in in a fake fake house like your friend comes over in
your fake house and then you both look at the fake mona lisa painting that your friend has
yeah i mean that's that's exactly what zuckerberg is doing and when
you say fake you mean the metaverse so it's you know so you log into the metaverse so there is a
section in that connect 2021 where zuckerberg uh goes into metaverse he's like chilling with
somebody like chilling as in whatever the metaverse version of chilling is then he gets a
phone call from some you know uh some woman in brooklyn and she says oh look at my uh ar art that
i just found on the street she scans that art with her brain and then or whatever her goggles
and then that's it and then she's like oh my god i'm so excited to be here and then she's like oh
oh my god i'm so excited to be here and then she's like oh my god i'm so excited to be here and
art art yeah yeah essentially and then it shows up

Put them in your metaverse house and then I guess show people like how cool your metaverse house is.
I think that's the that's the idea.
That is significantly worse, man.
It's so pointless to, you know, the whole buying the art in a digital format and all of that.
As in, I'm not sold yet for that because the whole the whole NFT thing that is going on.
And like we were speaking a few minutes ago, since it's not centrally regulated, if someone does pose as the wrong person and you actually, you know, sell or buy from that person, you cannot even even if you can see all the transactions, you cannot really revert because there's no central agency to help you with that or something like that.
Yeah, no, but I disagree with that.
I think the NFT idea is actually very good and actually not being centralizes the strength of NFTs.
So same with crypto.

Let's say you want, you know, you want to sell a digital art painting or like a song or something that you created, then you can do that through this NFT thing.
And not just that, it is verifiable ownership.
I think that's the best part about it.
So even though you can get right, like you can get scammed, it is true.
But you can also verify if or not.
Your NFT is legit.
And this is like, you know, unfalsifiable.
So you can, anybody can check.
Essentially, like if you say you have this, you own this, you know, picture of a rock, which I think is one of the most famous NFTs.
Then, you know, people can, right?
Like then people can independently verify that you do own that piece of rock.
So in my opinion, it's a very interesting idea.
It changes the concept of ownership.

Basic analysis, like, obviously I have not read anywhere close to, you know, what you have read about this topic, but what a little I have read about it.

So as a concept, it seems really, really great, but you know, in reality, what some of the news I read again could be fake, could be, you know, wrong.
But I also read that some bad actors, obviously, and there's always going to be bad actors, right?
Whether it's physical world or virtual world or whatever.
So some bad actors are, you know, just uploading.

Okay. And you want to sell it on this, whatever NFT platform, let's say powered by Ethereum,
you could do it or you, or, you know, like you could sell it the traditional way, but
let's say I copy your piece of art. Okay. I take a picture of it or something and I put it on
when not like that though, if you have the source, like if you have the actual source with all the,
you know, metadata that the actual file has in that case. Yeah. So in that case, like before
your first transaction has happened. So let's say you never sold it yet. Then your art got
legitimately stolen. Correct. Because you, I was a bad actor that stole a piece of art from you
when it was never, never sold. Okay. And that is an issue because then, you know, I can sell your
stuff and then it will, then you are the rightful owner, right? Even if you're a bad actor, you are
the rightful owner and there's no way in hell I can prove that otherwise. Correct. So, and I am
the rightful owner only because I'm the rightful owner. So, and I'm the rightful owner only because
I will sign it with my key, right? So then it becomes verifiable that I created it and I was
the first one. That is true. But if you execute the transaction before I steal your stuff, right?
So let's say you put it on the Ethereum blockchain, even if you sell it, you know, for dirt cheap or
whatever, if you just put it on the marketplace and sign it with your key, then I cannot, like,
even if I, then you're good. Yeah. Then you're good. Because then even if I steal it, it's
pointless because the owner was established before I stole it. So in this sense, you know,
I think all these issues might be arising because it's a new technology. Even the,
the artists themselves are being scammed by, you know, middlemen who are claiming to,
because see, obviously for an artist, he or she might not be well versed with the technology that
goes behind it, right? Maybe the marketplace is not friendly enough to put it on or whatever.
And then right now, since it's not regularized enough in the sense of people not being familiar
in that sense.
I think it's causing whatever little issues it is right now, but when eventually it will be
something that artists are like very much aware of what it is and how, you know, people are getting
scammed and all of that, then I think they'll at that point, make sure to themselves upload
their copy and sign it. Like you said, before any, any scam or any issues like that occur.
Yeah. And this might be because it's all a new technology and people are not aware of the
loopholes and all of that.
Yeah. So it might just be an ease of,
of use thing. Right. So currently, yeah. When you said, you know, middlemen,
then I realized what you're talking about. Yeah. So if I'm the middleman and you're the artist
and I get all the pieces of art from you and then I put them on, yeah, I, you know,
you're kind of fucked, but it's the same. Yeah. Right. But it's the same thing as me
in the real world telling you, you know, like, give me all the paintings that you created and
I will put them in a studio and you know, like everything will be good. We'll pay you good money,
but then I run away with it. So when people start realizing this,
then I think this will go down.
True that. So I think that the, the physical world issue is not that pronounced because it's an old,
old field, right? It's, it's a known thing. Like the artists know that these are the good vendors
and these, uh, like preserve your artwork correctly and all of that. Whereas this is
completely new. I think that is the main issue here.
Yeah. So I think they will be educated that there is no middleman on these platforms. You,
there is only you and somebody else that you're selling to. There is nobody else in the middle.
Nobody needs to regulate anything. So I think that's the biggest thing here. Nobody's going to
take a cut from the transaction. So except fucking Facebook, because Facebook wants to do this.

marketplace for their, you know, meta metaverse, you know, meta metaverse. So, uh, that's what
