okay so another episode of combustible brains episode 9 10 12 100 i don't know depends on which platform you're looking depends on which platform you're looking at and depends on how many episodes we actually publish so you remember yeah it doesn't matter you remember we recorded some episodes and we just never published them because they were so shit yeah definitely so the for the viewers to viewers that are listening right so just imagine the kind of high quality stuff that you get here like we talk about you know weed alcohol we talk about very useful topics where we get up to four listeners an episode it's pretty amazing and then imagine that we have a second tier after that which is so bad that we actually have to scrap it so we don't even get two people to listen to it right exactly so this is the equivalent of premature ejaculation for podcast you know like it is so bad that you're almost proud of it so so with that said no one said nobody right so we didn't say that so and uh of course this is a deep fake voice this is not me or uh so this is just deep fake this is ai you know i don't know if the deep fake can laugh like an idiot like the way i do well now now they can since we did an episode on sentient beings which you you should go back and listen to um you will be convinced that we are actually not real which means that we can say whatever we want which is the goal of this podcast so no consequences at all exactly it's not like anybody listens to this anyway so it's just anyway four people listen to it right so it's your fault right exactly so okay so with that said we figured we'd do an episode on storing your dick pics uh actually no like scratch that we did an episode on storing your pics yeah yeah without google so without iCloud or google so that's what we wanted to do today do today what do you think should we yeah that sounds like a really simple fun topic yeah exactly and many people are doing it right like many people upload their pics on either apple cloud or like drive or google photos or you know stuff like that yeah actually if you're just talking about dick pics i think the biggest database will be snapchat because i think that's where people actually send dick pics thinking that they will disappear and they never disappear i'm sure there's a folder where steven speak whoever is the the leader of the cult leader of snapchat and his wife they both have a folder called users dick pics and it's just filled with dick pics i just assume that is the case they must be having a folder on their desktop called temp do not open them that's a good one so any so the point is if you're not using a folder you're not using a link so if you're sending dick pics on snapchat they do end up on Miranda Kerr's temp folder so you should know that you know so don't do that it's it's a very bad idea to send your dick pics to Miranda Kerr and her husband i mean this is you have to shock and awe the audience into you know having them realize the importance of privacy yeah yeah i mean imagine every time you sent a dick pic Miranda Kerr got it this is just unacceptable and she knows everything about your dick now it's it's not cool you know so don't do that don't use snapchat and we are here to wisdom on how to actually do it so keep keep listening basically tune in after the break yeah and what do people say like subscribe comment you know like share subscribe we actually don't recommend doing any of that because even we have not subscribed to our own podcast so what is the point of you doing it's totally true that so you do know that's a subscribe joke right there was some meme in between like some some dude he was trying to say the word subscribe okay like in his like youtube video and he just couldn't say it for like two minutes he's like subscribe and now that's become a meme basically was it some indian guy it sounds very yeah yeah some indian kid indian kid like must be a teenager or something and he was just trying to say the damn word like like and he was honestly trying to say it he wasn't joking around he was like dude you know what i really hate is the people that say you know subscribe like comment and then they just don't like it and they just don't like it and they just don't like it and like below what do they say click below the like button or something like what is it like toko or hit the notification bell or subscribe to my channel i hate those people i hate their families i hate their everybody but their dog you know because this is the lowest of low that mankind can go i hate their lineage because you have to blame the lineage for creating such scum of a human you know to to have them beg to subscribe to some youtube channel dude come on like this is the lowest of the low like what else do you like you might as well just you know never mind and it's become and it's become so common that our brain filters it out anyway right like when someone starts saying please subscribe please comment please hit the bell you you just tune it out right because so it has been such so many times that our brain just is like okay that's like advertisement basically yeah and i hate so since we're on the topic of hating stuff i also fucking hate those sponsored sections you know when you get the sponsored sections like oh i'm sponsored by this fucking bag or this fucking whatever tripod stand or this app or this fucking vpn the vpn is the worst like dude it is the worst the vpn is the worst and they keep touting it like you know privacy i'm like no no that just takes the thing from one person to the other like isp instead of that you put it to the uh vpn company like you're not like it's not privacy that you are like doing you know it's probably worse man because at that point you know it's like you are literally giving your data to one dude somewhere like in in a basement in vietnam or vietnam or something you know not to single out the vietnamese people but this is just a joke so right so the worst of those and the worst of those are the ones who like put it cheekily into their like um uh into their like script so so i don't remember who it was i used to like see this one men's fashion guy okay like he used to talk about like some suits and this and that whatever and he used to always do that like always he used to have his sponsor as a part of things you should do kind of thing you know and it was so annoying he's like talking about normal shit and then all of a sudden he's like vincent chase watches they are the best i'm like no they're not they're not clearly don't use it yeah dude those people suck so i just wanted to get that hate out fuck these guys such a weird dude no really this is legitimately an issue on youtube and all these other sites where they're just shoving ads in your face all the time like instagram tiktok youtube no matter what platform you go to these days you're first going to be you know shoved with ads you know bullshit that you never wanted to do and then you're like oh my god i'm not going to do that i'm not going to do that in the first place it has become so bad in fact that that i go actively out of my out of my way to avoid these platforms now so it is uh it's very peaceful when you actually avoid it you actually have a better life way better life so um so yeah indeed i guess even on instagram it has these this issue like i i don't browse instagram so i don't know yeah i deleted my account because of it because uh instagram is even worse because they have this um you know this algorithm right that can basically like hook you onto their ads very quickly so you get sponsor profiles and the sponsor profiles are basically ads and those profiles are you know like already sold to some brands somewhere so it's just bad you just get ads and just couple it with all the you know thoughts that as in right h o t s right on instagram that you get so there is a whole like sexual uh like aspect to it so they'll try to hook you on with like a very hot body or you know like a very attractive picture and then they'll be trying to sell you a fucking bag or some bullshit like that like you do not yes right right i've seen those like in the pic they are holding that like protein shake or you know stuff like that bang energy like that kind of shit you know like so it was so bad and the thing is like i encourage everybody to do this experiment like delete instagram like you don't have to delete the account like i did just delete it take a break for seven days go back to to it and then you will notice all the ads you will notice all the ads all the shoving in your face all the spam all the garbage that's when you notice it you don't notice it when you're actively using it so to be honest to be honest we are the like one of the lesser amount of people who actually would notice it because most people it just like instagram they put it back even after like a bit of a break they're back like they're back into that mindless scrolling so yeah i don't know like how many people can actually notice that yeah and people are hooked on this shit like people and especially worse are those people who are like you know like people that actually don't post so this is something i realized so people that don't post are actually more hooked on instagram than the people that are posting because at least with posting right you get that creation right like you get like okay that joy of posting that you are creating some content you have to use your brain at least you have to like figure out to some filter like how to filter how to frame like some shit but the consumers that is the worst one so there'll be like silent instagrammers which you will notice like they will check your stories and stuff so you can very quickly identify who the real losers are and you can go to their profile and there'll be like 300 followers like you know but they'll be for like they'll be following and they'll be on instagram fucking all day and they don't even realize it and these are the people who will be in like denial so they'll be saying i don't use instagram that much you know because in their mind they don't because they don't post their last post is two years ago but they are fucking hooked on this app like all fucking day all fucking night exactly man that's that's a really good point because i've heard so many people say that no i'm not active on instagram i don't really post much i just sometimes you know quote unquote sometimes browse and we know how that sometimes is right like when you have the app on your phone and you know it's not like the people who are doing this are are stupid because like we were talking the other day these are really smart people employed by these companies like insta facebook you know the same company but these social media people they they employ these people and they are not scientists like psychologists they know what they are doing they know how to hook you in from a psychological standpoint you know so it's not like it's not a like they have taken efforts to make sure that you don't leave yeah so how do you think that your brain who is not by the way thinking about it from that angle that they are trying to hook me in how how are you unassuming human supposed to fight that if you are not aware that that is happening behind the scenes right yeah yeah no good point actually you know what the google photos episode because now we are so deep into this let's just listeners of this podcast we are just changing topics on the fly or it and we don't care google photos we'll cover that next time let's just get into this point a little bit right so this is this is an excellent point where um instagram employs very smart people to hook you right so like you said there is the first is the aspect of uh like the you know the psychology of the human being like modeling it how to hook them on it et cetera et cetera but i think the link to that is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so circle is what you watch you know like you know they know a lot more about you than just your instagram history so and all these companies have cross website trackers as well right and very less people actually use plugins or take efforts to block those trackers right yeah so once you have like you visit one of these websites like their websites that's it like they have all that like you have facebook logged in onto your browser yeah that's it even if you close that tab and you maybe even close the browser if you don't clear everything that's it you're you keep getting followed right it doesn't and people think incognito does something it dude it does not it even says it on the damn incognito page it says what it cannot do yeah so and people should realize right like the reason this information is not more freely available out there is because it's not in the company's interest like the big tech company's interest to tell you this like why would they tell you something actively to you you know that bottom line exactly and it will hurt their bottom line so there is a subreddit actually called data is beautiful i i really love that subreddit they have various plots of you know very interesting things or um or something interesting what is it about it's just data so what they do is i think it's a bunch of like nerds that take a lot take random data so the other so the reason i brought this up is because i saw a beautiful visualization of google's profits um for this last quarter or something or the last year or something like that so i think it's a very beautiful visualization maybe you can look this up as we um as we speak and you could see that most of their revenue comes from search which is not surprising but search as ad revenue so they're still making you know like revenue from ads and the other big supplier was youtube so youtube ads are actually making a lot of money so just think about their incentives right they're making billions of dollars i think their profit margins are like let's i don't want to butcher this up but i think it's a very beautiful visualization so i think it's a very beautiful visualization so it was like 16 or 18 billion this last quarter just in like gross profit and is that all-time high i'm not sure i'm not sure so i don't keep track of these things but it was i mean it's an obscene amount of money right it's regardless of what it is so why right like why would you tell people to not to have you know tools and strategies in their lives to block your ad revenue when you're making like a fuck ton of money you're never going to do that so it's not in their interest it is not in their interest it is not in their interest it is not in their interest it's not in the shareholders interest it's not in the company's interest so people need to be more aware of these things and you know this is why i also hate that live subscribe bullshit because it you're just promoting youtube you know you're promoting a fucking ad you're part of the problem so exactly no seriously like of course they they don't want you to know that they are doing all of these behind the scenes right else that will obviously like take away their bottom line which no one wants and many people like you know argue in in such places where they say that these companies are ethical this that i'm like yeah maybe all of that is true okay but it's about money right more than anything else it's about the money if you're getting money then what ethics and what what right i mean you're getting money so that's it it doesn't matter if like people are addicted to your app it doesn't matter if any of these things are happening dude there's this ethics and all like it's it is such bullshit man i mean i am sure that every one of these big tech companies has an ethics committee i'm sure they spend billions of dollars on ethics and they're not going to be able to do that like ethical everything but look at the bottom line right look at the bottom exactly the bottom line is that people's lives after instagram and facebook are much worse than they were before right people are more right like especially i don't know if you if you've looked into this but teenage girls seem to have the biggest problems with social media because i think it is reflective of self-image and they might be more self-image conscious or they're more you know prone to anxiety i'm not sure what it is right like i'm not external value or you know stuff like that also right whatever it is but it's actually fucking up their lives significantly you know it's not like and to be honest i think we got very lucky man not that you or me or teenage girls that's not that's not what i'm saying but we but our generation i feel slipped through the cracks more or less like we had a normal childhood you know we didn't have cell phones when we were eight years old i actually feel like lucky now because true we had that real experience we've played with our friends outside you know do you remember like playing roblox no man you're going to remember playing in you know playing with your friends and having a good time and having a good childhood all these things are basically right exactly outdoors right we used to play a lot outdoors we used to do a lot of activities and all of that and now all of that is replaced by digital stuff yeah and it's not just digital stuff right it's not like it's augmenting your normal social life it has replaced it which i think is it's it's very bad and i think even modern parenting i'm not a parent and neither is ra so we're not qualified to speak on this but it seems that parents are also afraid of sending their kids outside now which is so strange to me like in the future i would want to have kids if i want to have kids i would you know let that kid experience the world you know you should not put him in a box you can't just you can't protect them forever anyway you know at some point so you might as well have them learn how the world works you can't just put them in a box you can't just put them in a box put them on roblox and ipad and pretend that they're going to be normal they're going to be fucked so so this is like a totally different topic but yeah man so there's like one thought that i i keep coming back to when it comes to you know modern day parenting which is like if you or rather any parenting is that if you let the child take risks when the child is younger then the consequences of that are very less you know very small the consequences of that child feeling when when allowed to do his or her own things on failure of that the consequences are still something you as a parent can easily absorb but when you don't allow that and when the child grows up and goes in out into the real world and starts failing there the later the person fails in their their life the the worse the consequence or the recovery ability becomes right yeah i think it's such a tangent but still no i think it's a totally valid tangent and actually i read a book i forget what book this was but um essentially what happens is um there was this explanation of you know in the last like five ten years you're seeing a lot of um you know a lot of like fringe woke culture come up right and this is not i'm not judging anybody right but like when we were kids we didn't have this rainbow flag and we didn't have like many genders and like this is a rather you know new newer thing like it has come up recently and one theory uh on why it happens and to be clear right like i don't i personally don't care about the fact that i'm a child and i'm not a child and i'm not a parent i don't care what you do like you can do whatever you want i'm i'm a supporter of you know humans expressing themselves any way they want as long as they don't bother me and i won't bother them everything is good so however one explanation was that they are sort of playing a role in their head and in in a sense they're exploring the world which i thought was a very interesting idea so for example if they don't get to you know play with dolls for example as a let's say you're a guy and you're playing with dolls when you're two nobody's gonna care you know nobody's gonna care they're just going to care you know they're just going to care you know they're just going to care you know going to look at it and they're probably going to say he'll test it and probably grow out of it and if he doesn't grow out of it you know there might be something else to it however if you didn't get that opportunity right if you didn't get to experiment with the hundred things when you are say very young then you're going to express that as an adult that was the idea that they were they were presenting interesting and that's why well that the theory was that's why we are seeing this you know explosion of all these fringe you know you have everything these days from you know not just the lgbtq community but you have furries there's all this kind of you know fringe stuff that now exists and one theory was that this is why it exists so that was very interesting to me that's interesting maybe maybe they are onto something there i mean who knows could be man could be i think uh and and having said that like i like people especially listening in the u.s they might think that we are against all of this shit and we are not actually not at all in fact yeah there is just some science you know like some stuff that so where where were you reading this you're saying i forget i'll have to look up the reference uh this was a book or an article i forget um yeah i should keep citations of these things but yeah also i want to keep uh i want to keep this one thought in mind right like people in the u.s like you are you know constrained to u.s culture and ra and me we are indian people you know we have a different culture our value system is different so we don't operate in the same space as you know somebody who was born in the u.s and was brought up with this culture we have different ideas and um it's not a hate or good or bad or anything it's just different you know because in india like casteism racism these have totally different meanings you know like you i remember going to my undergrad um you know like admissions basically and i went there and uh the whole thing was sorted by uh caste and religion you remember this exactly exactly it was very much man it's fucking wild i mean you go there and you say like okay you let's say the exam is for like 200 points or something whatever it was 100 points and then if you score 80 and if you're a brahmin then you can go to uh you know the college of engineering pune for computer science but if you're uh or whatever right but if you are a scheduled caste member and then you get only 40 you can get the same opportunity and this is official this might shock people in the u.s but it's official like it's you know you have to put your religion caste family like all this stuff on paper for like stuff that will affect your life outcomes you know like where you study what happens so it's totally different culture so you should know that something to take out of you know all of this like the previous topic and this topic is that the conversations to me is way more important than anything else you know as soon as you say like you're going to be a brahmin you're going to be a caste member you're going to be a like when you like take out a topic like when you start talking about something as soon as you say oh my god that is racist or uh oh my god i got offended by that what you do you as in any one of us i'm not pointing it to anyone even me you anyone what happens is you take out the conversation right the ability to like talk to each other about issues that that we think whatever they are right you you just take out that ability of two humans to interact and try to understand each other and that is where i think fundamentally it's a very important thing to do and i think it's a very important thing to do so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so total bubble i'll give you a very simple example so yesterday i was looking for i absolutely love caffeine so i was looking for a place to have you know i'm always looking for new cafes and i just enjoy the taste of caffeine i'll enjoy coffee when i'm working so i looked up this cafe i don't want to name it because i will you know this will be pinpointing to them but uh it was uh it had very high reviews and it was a locally owned coffee shop something i really like because i do like supporting you know local businesses and i don't go to starbucks or any like bullshit like commercial ones i like supporting the small local man i think there's a lot of value in it so i figured okay let me go to this place so it was a 20 minute drive and i took the drive to just get coffee 20 minutes quite long so i went there and i parked my car right outside the cafe and um just to give you some background here right like like the coronavirus in the u.s is like significantly well understood now and i think in the world and masking has become optional in all places like most people are not wearing masks anymore unless it's a hospital or like a doctor's office or something like that or if right you know like generally speaking the risk level is pretty low the infection rate is low all these things so and everywhere in michigan nobody's wearing a mask generally speaking like even if you go to a mall car dealership doesn't matter anymore so people are getting back to normal however this one cafe right it said follow the law mask up before you go to a mall and you don't have to wear a mask before you come in and you know people i could see through the glass that people were wearing masks inside and you could tell that this is like a very you know like super like super woke like isn't very hipster super so i actually wanted to go in there but actually didn't have a mask on me so uh you know so i went in there and i opened the door and i asked them do you have a mask because i have nothing against wearing a mask so i said like do you have a mask that i can you know wear like a disposable one and i'll come in and i can buy a cafe and i'll come in and i'll buy a like a coffee and um they said no they don't have any so i but i couldn't come in is what they said so right so i said okay that's fine and i left but the point here is like this was a real bubble right like if like you see this like the risk tolerance has become so low like i had no symptoms nothing like i just wanted coffee and i'm not sitting there i'm just taking coffee get out but you know that this they are living in a true bubble the point of this was you can just tell what kind of bubble you want to have and you can just tell what kind of bubble you want to have these people are living in because they they still had like huge signs that saying mask up and sure enough people in there were like wearing n95 masks and so on and so forth and to me this is virtue signaling like if you were so concerned about you know the coronavirus and the pandemic why aren't you home right like why are you exactly don't go into the cafe that is closed right and if this was something just few weeks like few months rather ago or maybe a year ago this is totally understandable right well 100 people don't have their booster dose you have to go to the hospital right people don't have you know some are not vaccinated whatever but now and see the worst thing is i don't want to now go into the anti-vax thing dude this this talking to u.s people it's much more difficult right yeah i mean don't worry about this offended no it's true but we cannot worry about this on our part oh yeah of course no no because this is our voice like whatever but true true not in that way in general though i mean it just you know you think about it like that these days you know but yeah so we're going to have to do something about it but i think it's important to be careful about it because it's not just like a vaccine it's a virus right so it's not just like a vaccine it's a virus right so what i was saying is if they were not vaccinated they are way bigger a threat than someone who is like three vaccines down and without a mask whereas a person with a mask but not at all vaccinated is way worse right correct i don't know if that's true i'm not a doctor but still i mean it's just obvious seems that way yeah seems that way but this is the point right and so this is so another thing is right like if you were truly concerned about spreading the virus which you might be right you might be health compromised in some way right and so this is the point right and so this is the point right and so this is the point underlying illness whatever you might have somebody old at home there are many concerns but then why would you go to a cafe and if you're in the cafe right you're having a sandwich you're having coffee every time you have have this little piece you're pulling the mask down like otherwise you are not going to have it so that defeats the purpose man that defeats the purpose right so this is what i was thinking like just imagine the mindset like you are eating drinking like you know talking all these things are happening inside that cafe so you don't even let the guy come in and get your coffee like okay private business you can do whatever you want but it's pretty stupid to me and this seems like a true bubble i mean not to mention that they lose business like this but and they get you know like um but here's the thing they also get people who are really into it like get as in like get you know like customers who are really into it because there is a section of society that really enjoys this kind of stuff you know it's this signaling effect why though right because they are not achieving anything like you're in a public close place pulling your mask down every time you have a sip yeah it's literally pointless like if you are so concerned like you said just sit home don't come no but see that's the thing right that's the bubble so you can yeah right so you can just imagine these people's like instagram feed you can imagine their twitter feed you can imagine like the moment you look at it like that i don't want to blame the human right you almost want to blame the system for creating conditions that put these very vulnerable humans into such positions right let's see right so they must be having like an exactly so they must be like having their own instagram feed with their own instagram followers and then they go into the cafe with the mask on and then put like hashtag coffee hashtag local you know something hashtag mask hashtag something and then everyone's like oh my god look how much care you're taking how much you know how responsible of a citizen you are by wearing mask inside the cafe and you know stuff like that yeah and by the way if the infection rates are high i will happily wear a mask anywhere i go i'm nothing against it you know oh definitely right like definitely we all did right we all did like very recently yeah very very recently i've stopped actually you know i still by the way carry the mask with me everywhere even now even in india but yeah i've been wearing masks for like three months maybe three months i've finally stopped wearing mask right because yeah i can see that like the virus is in control the next wave isn't hit yet like if it hits again i'll take start taking care right of course yeah these things have to be dynamic right yeah exactly and this fear mongering is very bad so i think this is uh this is an example of like being in a bubble i also think that these people are becoming more and more socially isolated so there is um like we are both huge fans of andrew hooberman and andrew hooberman uh for listeners of this podcast great podcast by the way you should check it out it can literally change your life and uh hooberman right line hooberman especially stuff on sunlight man that really changed my life oh that was crazy yeah i'd never thought about it like that it actually changed my life um but anyway so he has a point on social isolation and aggression so an aggression not in a good sense right like not competition but if you're socially isolated right like you don't have friends you're not actually hanging out with people like diverse people with diverse ideas and interests etc you actually limit yourself and you become aggressive towards people that you disagree with so and this isn't this so the latter part is my observation so for example the left and the right in the u.s as an outsider i can see they hate each other you know this is just oh yeah it baffles me it yeah it's to an outsider this is mind-blowing like you why should two people that live in the same country like who have no shared you know like hate from the past it's not like three there's three thousand years of war between them or something like you know there's no no such thing there's one civil war years ago and i was it's that's done then there is of course the issue of like slavery in the u.s and etc so on but that has nothing to do with the current left and right um or maybe it does but very little in the current left versus right so left and right each hate each other but to your earlier point right they are absolutely unwilling to have a conversation with each other just look at a left leaning instagram or twitter feed and then look at a right leaning instagram or twitter feed there is zero conversation between two sides it's absolutely mind-blowing and it is crazy man yeah the confirmation bias really hits hard here you know oh yeah oh yeah and i mean just imagine the amount of like constructive useful stuff that can come out when two people talk meaningfully with the intention of listening and learning seriously right so there's so much to learn and but especially from box 10 from someone who you don't agree with you know that is very important which which never happens these days so for for some like i think we need to clarify what like confirmation bias is right in just a in a sentence so so basically what it is is uh you have a set of beliefs and you look forward like you look out for uh things actions people opinions that agree with your opinion to just improve your own thought that yes what i was thinking is true so that is like kind of the gist of it right so that this is like basic human behavior by the way this has this has been happening from before social media but before at least you physically met people right so you had to sit in front of someone who does not agree with you who tells you on your face that no this is bullshit whatever you're talking about is shit right but now what has happened is due to social media you can surround yourself like and not just like one or two people you can surround yourself with like hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people and people your followers your friends like quote-unquote friends yeah and they all since you have chosen them through social media through your beliefs using you know this this this phenomenon all of them keep agreeing to you forever basically because that's how you have chosen them so you think that your opinions are the opinions you know like the correct the correct then yeah exactly the correctness is the correctness yeah you think you are you know somehow superior you know more people because see other humans are agreeing with you right so you must be right but that's the biggest issue right that's where the social media bubble that's where confirmation bias hits the hardest because for example a democrat will never try to actually go and see what the republican is actually trying to say for example and vice versa or the left and the right and you know all of these things even in india you see this all the time right so it's so i mean if you step back just a few feet and try to look at it from a pragmatic point of view from a pragmatic point of view from a logical point of view you will see that dude every new like everywhere there's nuance and everyone has some or the other legit point and you have to step back and agree that maybe okay the thought i was trying to put down might be wrong yeah and there is some humility in accepting that right like what you were thinking was wrong is a huge step in learning for yourself like forget about others like you know fuck fuck their opinions fuck their life you know you have to make some changes in your life it is actually the moment you make that change in your own life saying oh no i was wrong you open the possibility of learning right so until you do that you are going to be in a closed box and this is actually something that i'm very proud of and i think ra you have the same quality and i think that's why we are good friends right since so many decades now that we have the ability to go back and say no i was wrong you know what i was wrong this is this was a this was a worse approach this was not good and you detach from it and you say okay and you move on and you learn exactly so there have been times when we have like are arguing onto something right we both are so firm on our opinions but as soon as we see that other side because we always do right we always do and as soon as we hear it we're like hmm that's interesting i never thought of it like that right and instantly we detach it rather we we never attach it to our ego right we we keep it as a point but we never attach it to so that's why we can instantly like let go of that you're like yo no baby what are you saying or no what are you saying that is correct right or not it's so simple so or not like it doesn't have to be that you always agree right you use but you have should you should have the ability to see arguments from different viewpoints you should try to understand what people are saying you have to be more cognizant of these things and the same is true with technology like people get caught in these bubbles right like iphone dude it's so crazy right that see even more than religion even more than religion right like people are still talking about whether ios is better than android i'm like bro that's like 2012 man like 2012 and nobody cares you know at the end of the day but well people care and people will have wars over this and they absolutely hate each other for this it's a kind of crazy but you know and still the green bubble versus blue bubble like all this bullshit stuff like this is not maybe not a problem in india because everybody's on whatsapp which is probably worse i don't know like because i just have this bias towards hating facebook because they oh man seriously meta i just hate that company oh seriously but um but yeah anyway like in the us is the same thing right like everybody's on apple like apple pay like apple i i message facetime you know apple watch and uh it's not good for you you know because they're just going to stifle innovation you don't get innovative stuff like you don't get you know amazing technology like foldable phones or something into your hands and you're like oh my god i'm not gonna be able to do this i'm not gonna be able to do this i'm not gonna be able to do this i'm not gonna be able to do this i'm not gonna hands quickly it just limits you so if you have the ability to detach you know maybe if you have a shitty maybe you have a flagship iphone this year get a shitty one next year uh you know like the cheapest one and you know so you satisfy your i'm like i message whatever and get a second phone you know which can be a foldable like which can be a s23 ultra whatever comes out try something new you know like open your mind to different ideas get an android watch like you know get a pixel something like it actually don't get an android watch it's shit but yeah yeah that's true actually there is a new uh pixel watch coming i think yeah i think it'll be good i think it'll be good it'll be out september i think right and i think coming back to the the point what we were trying to make like sometimes i've heard people say that so then if you don't then that means you don't have an opinion right we were talking about keeping like uh so that's actually not true also right like why not like form an opinion like form an attach your ego to it like don't attach your like your person your being to it like keep a strong opinion no one is saying to be like accepting everything keep a super strong opinion but just don't be egotistic about it yeah and yeah think about it outside your bubble of understanding right yeah and even this podcast right so if somebody comes in you know in the comment section which doesn't exist but but if they if they write us a mail or also merch which you should buy which doesn't exist but one day it will um so but anyway if somebody critiques this podcast right critiques my opinion etc i actually don't get offended by these things i am actually exactly not at all i'm happy to i'm happy to listen to feedback of course it's bullshit i'm going to call it out you know if i'm if it's just bullshit i'm going to say like you know fuck off but if it's a legitimate criticism like if it's you know like some if some it's bullshit like you know like oh i just don't like the color of your uh you know like podcast art fuck off like i don't like it i don't like it i don't like it i don't like it like i don't care about you know but if it's a legitimate criticism then i'm happy to listen to it and you know i'm willing to take this i'm happy to say like i was wrong i have no problems with that and more people should do this i actually noticed this girl um that i was talking to a few months ago she blocked me and the reason she blocked me is i kind of like this girl but we had some disagreement and in retrospect i feel that i dodged a bullet which i which was good but she had absolutely and we were we used to agree on most things because not out of like me simping on on her but we just aligned on a lot of things you know like sometimes it happens you're right okay cool like okay like you just align but then one day we were not aligned um on some topic i forget it was not even that big big of a topic but i realized very quickly that she had absolutely no mechanism for dealing with disagreement so which is a huge issue right so the moment there was a first disagreement and i presented my opinion that was completely 180 degrees like shifted to what her opinion was you know she wasn't able to handle it and she's she was fuming and she got very emotional and such and this i mean it honestly surprised me but she say i didn't even know you pranav did she say that like no no she might say that very something very similar to that she said yeah like blah blah blah whatever so and my point here and i told her right like well i mean it's okay if you block me like it doesn't my life will go on it doesn't it really doesn't matter you know as you grow up you you realize like it's okay like shit life goes on so shit happens life goes on but we should have the point here was we should have fundamentally the ability ability to successfully disagree right you should be able to right handle situations like that you're like okay i disagree with this this is why i disagree and we still agree on you know like 80 of the things so it's okay you don't have to come to a conclusion sometimes you sometimes you just disagree right like for google photos for example i'm sure you don't use google photos but i use google photos you know like for you know not everything but i use google photos so that's that's going to be a disagreement in philosophy you're going to say you know this sucks or like i use a chinese phone this vivo foldable somebody might say you know this is a privacy nightmare and so on and so forth with them i would right and that's totally valid point right exactly and that's okay like it's you know we should you should have the you should have an understanding of how to make sure that you're not doing this podcast right so or we don't fight over it like we don't fight over these bullshit things or even big ticket items right like the same mechanism holds so exactly man and i think that's how most relationships also end right i think so i mean they should end i i feel that if no truly i would say i would say rather both of them should learn the mechanism of understanding the other side i think that would be better than just ending because see ending yeah okay i mean i'm not saying cling on to the toxic relationship but i'm saying that the ability to understand the other side will go a long way even in your next relationship or the next one or the next one if you don't see fundamentally improve on that then it will keep happening right every time you're you keep being in agreement you will be in a relationship as soon as that goes you're boom you're gone no very true and with that i think we should wrap this podcast up we have probably like this is i think the most random podcast we have ever done right like yeah but i enjoyed this one too yeah we started we started off well i think there is one more point we need to make is it already a long one i think it's a bloody long one yeah one one more point that you remember the slot machine logic that i told you about so so we were talking about these psychology things right about like how these facebook and these big companies insta like they employ these these scientists and people who analyze these cycles so so this slot machine thing was crazy to me when i had read it so you what that is is essentially say you like one type of pick they don't show you the next pick in the in the row in the line basically the one you like they show like three four picks five picks six picks in between that you don't like particularly of some genre that you don't relate to or something like that and then like the sixth or the seventh pick they again show the one you would like so i see yeah so that like keeps you right on the boil because if they keep showing you all the good picks like the say you are searching for like sports picks for example uh and they keep showing you all the correct picks then you get bored right away right whereas like they you like sports for example you like cricket for example and then they show you a cricket pick and then they show you like random other picks like nature or this that something like that and then they show you like randomly cricket picks in between well i think you're being yeah you're going to you're being too kind here nobody likes cricket picks or nature picks on instagram it's all you know where it is you know like so um but so the slot machine part is you scrolling through right like that is the action and then your reward is like whatever you like you get it every now and then yeah the uncertainty is the thing that keeps you hooked which is super scary man when you think about how much they they engineer these products yeah i mean it is a legit mechanism of also being happy like intermittent reward um but that's a separate topic not this way though not this not through social media at all no it has been hijacked right like you want intermediate reward to be something like you take a lot of effort and then one day you get an unexpected reward you're truly truly unexpected right like you get oh shit i got some amazing success today my program my program runs you know or maybe i finished a book or you want to do meaningful things you know like i'm a better writer better musician whatever whatever is your thing not through social media that mechanism has been hijacked which i think is our main point here right like this is why they're actually very evil companies that are fucking with your life and you should get away from them and that's why stop using whatsapp and install signal god damn it yeah i think we will go to the grave um saying that truly i mean this is and this is actually why we wanted to do the google photos uh episode also because it's a privacy nightmare right and we will cover this in the future but very shortly right you guys everybody should think about just the amount of information that you're giving to google and you're giving to the people that you're giving to the people that you're giving them your kids families you know where you go what you do what you eat like it's an endless treasure trove of information that you're giving to these private companies icloud google whatever apple google whatever they are they are having a ball instagram like snapchat we must talk about detail in this man we we will do a proper podcast on this yeah we will do a legit podcast on this and we'll give you some hints pointers like we are very techie guys so we can't give you exactly you know like run this command and you know we're not going to give you we can but it would be a terrible thing to do in a podcast in general i don't want this podcast to be that you know we'll just point people in the right direction right we'll just say you know like these are general principles like this is what you should be thinking of this is what you should well or at least you should think of like when you you know like take pictures and share it and so on so we'll do we'll do that uh this became a social commentary and some random stuff yeah some ranting some social commentary but who gives a shit man yeah no we like doing this shit this is what we're doing so let's call it and we can end it here i think cool bye bye until next time
